Technology Integration

This years Teaching Choices Symposium made use of technology in various ways. Firstly, presenters used visual aides such as PowerPoint presentations. Images and brief text help to illustrate and highlight key concepts and components of workshops. Secondly, some presenters used microphones to amplify their voices, making their content it more easily accessible to a large group of people.

Social media was utilized as a way to promote the event and to emphasize the achievements and professional development of our teaching community. Twitter was used throughout the symposium to communicate and highlight points of interest and shared experiences. Twitter was also used as a means to win prizes by following and tweeting about the event with the hashtag #ASTCC2017 or #UO3T2017. Not only were we able to share real-time information and updates about the workshops we were helping to build our digital presence.

As a member of the Annual Student Teacher Conference Committee technology was an integral part of our planning and communicating during the event. We used google docs to help organize and keep track of our meetings which allowed for input from multiple people simultaneously. This also allowed us to insert messages as required for members to see and respond to accordingly. Facebook Messenger was used to communicate throughout the symposium which made it easy to coordinate when and where volunteers were needed.

The online registration for the symposium made it easy for people to check their schedules with ease from their devices throughout the day. Easily accessible online information allowed attendees to retrieve pertinent information such as room numbers without having to revisit the information desk. Technology definitely enhanced workshop content through stimulating images, videos, and audio and simplified accessibility to information throughout.
